The Fab lab at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym will host three new courses beginning in February.
Learning to Use a Pantograph
A six-hour intensive course to learn how to use a Mechmate CNC milling machine to cut and engrave wood, Plexiglas, polystyrene, polyurethane, leather, paper, PVC and thin metal, as well as a vast range of other materials, and a large work surface that allows users to develop large projects.
The course will be held on Saturday February 6 and 13 (3:30-6:30 pm) by Mauro del Santo, Innovation Gym Fab Lab Manager. The course costs 20 euros for Fab Lab members or 40 euro for non-members.
3D Modelling
A course to learn how to use 3D modelling with the Rhinoceros software package, which has been designed for industrial, architectural and naval use, as well as for jewellers, the auto-vehicle industry, CAD/CAM, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering and communications design.
The ten two-hour lesson course will be held on Fridays, staring on February 12 (6:30-8:30 pm). The course costs 200 euro and will be held by Mauro del Santo, Innovation Gym Fab Lab Manager.
Drones and Safety. Learning to Fly a Drone
Learn how to fly a drone with AirMovie Lab, a research and development lab that develops innocuous drones. The course, in fact, promotes the correct use of these “toys” that will become increasingly important.
The course will be based on six lessons, beginning with an introduction to drone use and technical aspects that will allow participants to immediately and safely fly their drones. Subsequent lessons will address issues related to robotics, open source and learning how to solder, as well as sharing new ideas for the development of these flying robots.
Courses will be held on Saturdays and Sundays, starting on Saturday, February 6 for a total of six meetings (3:30-6:30 pm). The course costs 180 euro.
All the labs will be held at Fondazione Mondo Digitale’s Phyrtual Innovation Gym Fab Lab on Via del Quadraro 102.
