With Project “From – Infinite to + Infinite, the Voice of the Universe,” the Liceo Scientifico P.S. Mancini from Avellino won the special award of the Global Junior Challenge for the most innovative project presented by Italian schools. The award was presented to Professor Elvira Limone. The jury, presided by Alfonso Molina, motivated the award as follows:
Muons are the musical notes of a universal melody, the astro-particles identified by the telescope at the National Gran Sasso Lab in Via Toledo, Naples, elaborated by a software programme developed by the students. The infinite is the starting point for a scientific, but also philosophical and musical, research project on the universe. The project demonstrates that truly innovative didactic activities must be multi-disciplinary.
Eleonora Curatola interviewed Giorgio, a student in Class IV E at the school, who explained the project to all the visitors at the school stand at the Museo Civico di Roma.
