The restrictive measures enacted during the pandemic had a strong impact on the mental health of children and adolescents, driving an increase in requests for help, even for extreme forms such as self-harm and suicidal tendencies. At the Bambino Gesù Paediatric Hospital in Rome, hospitalisations related to suicide attempts and wishes increased from 17% in January 2020 to 45% in January 2021.
The mental health of adolescents will once again be the focus of Health4U, the programme aiming to orient and educate students to university studies and professional careers promoted by the Fondazione Johnson & Johnson, with a focus on health, wellbeing and life sciences.
Module 9 will address “Depression Cannot Be Overcome with Words: A Journey in the Health of our Minds” with a clinical psychologist and Marina Adami, Therapeutic Area Medical Manager at Janssen, and Dario Delmonte, psychiatrist and Medical Affairs Manager at Janssen.
