“I’ve been at school since I was three … and have never left it.” This is how Pietro Alviti describes his passion for teaching. A teacher and Deputy principal at the Liceo scientifico linguistico in Ceccano, in the Province of Frosinone, Pietro teaches at one of the schools participating in the third edition of Meet No Neet, part of the global Microsoft YouthSpark Programme.
“Both as a student and as a teacher, I must say it is an ideal environment. It allows generations to exchange ideas and views, drives innovation, fights habits and allows participants to understand what is happening in the world through the students’ eyes,” explains the teacher, who also owns a blog.
One of the school’s most innovative choices was the Bring Your Own Device Methodology and a strong educational agreement with the students.
“I am now particularly committed to the use of new technology as a powerful tools for teachers,” continues Prof Alviti, who functions as a digital coach in the school.
So, what are the students preparing for the final contest of Project Meet No Neet? We will discover it soon, but it may even include an augmented reality experience, a field that has captured the interest of students for a number of years, now.
Project Meet no Neet, now in its third edition, provides young men and women with technological, social and entrepreneurial education, to help them live and work in the 21st century. In particular, they are given support for their business ideas, entrepreneurial projects and in accessing the job market.
The project has three main phases:
- Experiential education (even via coding, project management, etc.)
- Designing and crowdfunding
- Discovery Talent Contest with a hackathon & fair
