Learning on Vacation

See you in September! The first edition of the English Summer Camp closes for the vacations, too.

Over four weeks, this pilot experience involved 31 young girls and 47 young boys aged 6-13; in particular, 41 in the 6-10 age bracket and 37 in the 11-13 bracket. Ten children decided to stay on for another week.

The four weeks were organized around as many topics:

  • Robots
  • Olympics
  • Mad Scientists
  • U.S.A.

All the activities were held in English in the six labs of the Phyrtual Innovation Gym.

  • Fab Lab – the children built robots, developed Olympic logos, built spaceships and developed new Pokémon.
  • Media Art Lab – the children worked on the relationship between images and sounds, developing four soundtracks for Metropolis, 2001 Space Odyssey, Godzilla and a video on the Olympics.
  • Coding Lab – the children learned to code and programme videogames with Scratch, Kodu and Minecraft.
  • Robotics Centre – the children used the Lego WeDo and NXT Kits to develop and programme their robots.
  • Immersive Lab – the children learned to use a flight simulator and a series of immersive tools.
  • Video Lab – the children learned to create and animate 3D characters.

See you in September!
