Digital Made Contest, 2nd Edition: Laser Dye wins the Digital Fabrication Category.
Today, we present the project selected in the Digital Fabrication Category at the 2nd Edition of the Digital Made. For Young Fashion Talents Contest. It’s entitled Laser Dye and was presented by multimedia artist Wei Chieh Shih who works with eco-textiles, wearables and technology. The Chinese designer won a weeklong course of her choice at the Fabricademy.
Project Laser Dye combines the vintage photographic process of blueprint processing with digital manufacturing technology. Laser dye allows the printing of permanent images on textile, sewn clothes and relatively fragile and slightly irregular surfaces. In fact, the image can even have photographic-level resolution.
The dress was showcased at the Fashion Digital Night held as part of Roma Fashion Week organised by Altaroma [see news: Fashion Show and Awards].
The Fashion Digital Night is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with Altaroma and in partnership with 3DiTALY, WeMake, REA Academy, Fabricademy, Reshape, ITmakES and the Italian Consulate General in Barcelona.
