Three mixed teams of students at the Verbania  L. Cobianchi School and tutors from the Elettra Robotics Lab Association, coordinated by Professor Raimondo Sgrò, were selected at RomeCup 2018 for the European RoboCup Junior Championship (Montesilvano, May 29 – June 1, 2018).

As first runner-up in the heavy league Team Mega Hertz qualified for the World Championships held in Montreal (Canada) and obtained an award for "Best Technical Presentation" [see news: Teams on the Podium]. Overall, football robot Viper III received two awards at Robocup 2016 (first place Superteam and third place in the individual competition) as well as an award for best project at the 2017 World Championships and Best Technical Presentation in 2018.

What are the characteristics of a champion like Viber III? The robot makers at the Elettra Robotics Lab explain it on their website, which opens with a motto that we like: A child, a teacher, a book, a pen and a robot can change the world.
