How to Change the Future

After the intensive training sessions held in schools in the city and province, yesterday, 120 young women studying in Bari, guided by American super coach Anthonette Peña, National Board Certified Teacher and STEM Teacher Lead, participated in the Coding Girls Programme hackathon held at the “Aldo Moro” University of Bari. Thirty-two teams participated in the challenge on the development of artificial intelligence (machine learning) solutions on "How could you make a difference?".

The Coding Girls, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the United States Embassy in Italy in collaboration with Microsoft Italy, aims to promote gender equality in science and technology. The sixth edition will be held on November 5-22 and will involve 10,000 young women in 14 Italian cities.

Projects Selected by the Jury

1st Place

Team Cyberattack

Sonia Marina Caselli 15 (team leader), Elisabetta Quarta 17, Alessandra Lomonte 16

Title: Knowledge Changes the World

Description: knowledge is a means to change the world and makes a difference. We need more curiosity and knowledge to fight ignorance. The project is a dialogue between a professor and two students, male and female, how are thinking about what they will do when they grow up. Entrepreneurs answer both. The narrator explains how to embark on a career. The young woman wonders what causes change and what doesn’t (AI is the answer for change and the screen shows keywords for change, or words that don’t on the contrary). What we need is the will to change the world and determination to overcome ignorance.
