Hour of Code in 6 Cities

Even this year, Microsoft and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will promote coding activities in six Italian cities for the Hour of Code for the Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 4-10, 2017).

Over 2600 students from 20 Italian schools in Milan, Rome, Naples, Asti, Pordenone and Bari will be involved.

Labs will be organised by Fondazione Mondo Digitale Coaches and Microsoft Experts to help students aged 6-19 approach coding in a creative manner, stimulating rational and computational thinking.

“This year, for the first time, besides coaches from the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, Coding Girls will also participate as tutors and coaches to interest young women and men in scientific subjects. The Coding Girls Association, which was formed just a few months ago, has already confirmed its service mission for training new generations and promote innovation starting from schools,” explains Mirta Michilli, Director General, Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

Microsoft Italy personnel will participate in interconnected coding sessions in Italian schools to create a simultaneous Hour of Code that will virtually connect all Italian students.

Special initiatives include coding labs at the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza in collaboration with the Comitato Maria Letizia Verga to provide young patients with the possibility to learn how to code.
