"Siamo soli" (We Are Alone) is the title of the special report dedicated to the effects of the pandemic on the last issue of Sette, the Corriere della Sera’s magazine. Amongst the various stories about Solitude covered in the report, one addresses adolescents: "And what if we end up closed in for good?". The article by Elisabetta Rosaspina expresses the fears of adolescents, but also their strength and creativity. The article ends with the experience of Giorgia (14) who lives and studies in the suburbs of Bari.

"If we do not want the new generations to spend their lives on the Internet, schools must return to be a place for coming together. I have seen students develop small study communities of 3-5 students. Just a few of them and always the same.”

This would allow us to marginalize school dropouts. According to an IPSOS survey for Save the Children, this issue concerns 34,000 adolescents.

Fourteen-year-old Giorgia from Bari is participating in Project “Open Space,” which has the patronage of Action Aid and was started before the pandemic began: "Thanks to the collaboration of engineers and architects,” explains her mother, Teresa Lepore, who has two other adolescent children, “Giorgia has learned how to use tools like 3D printers. Now, she uses her creativity and is thinking about becoming a doctor.”
