RomeCup 2012 – Excellence in Robotics in Rome launches the Futurbot Competition promoted by the Bio-microsystems and Bio-medical Robotics Laboratory of the Rome Campus Bio-Medico in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

How can robots help us improve our quality of life and health?
School children and their over-sixty students may participate in the Futurbot Competition by presenting an innovative project idea to info@mondodigitale.org. The deadline is June 8, 2012.

The proposals will be selected by an international jury of robotics experts that will evaluate the projects in terms of a series of factors, including originality, technological and economical sustainability, and project completeness.

The six best projects will be presented at the International Bio-robotics Converence Biorobotica “IEEE BioRob 2012” that will be held in Rome (June 24-28, 2012). The Competition winner and the other 5 finalists will present their idea to the jury and international audience during the plenary session (June 27). The “Awards Lunch” will take place on the same day and all participants will have free a stand in the exhibition area to present their ideas.

Moreover, at the RomeCup 2012, the Rome Campus Biomedico will organise a workshop on “The Future of Bio-Robotics” with international experts. The workshop will be held on March 23, 2012 at the Campidoglio Sala del Carroccio. The Campus Biomedico will also be present at the exhibition area to showcase a series of important bio-medical applications to help elders walk.

Listen to the interview with Prof. Eugenio Guglielmelli, Director of the Biomedical Robotics Laboratory at the Campus Biomedico University of Rome.
