DISCOVERING TALENTIS: THE WINNERS OF THE SECOND EDITION OF THE PROGRAMME PROMOTED BY MICROSOFT AND FONDAZIONE MONDO DIGITALE

The winners from the 2014 edition of the Discovering Talents Fair have five minutes to pitch themselves to important companies - Ikea, Avanade, Asus, Social Techno and Garoo – to provide a concrete contribution to the future of youth. It happened today in Peschiera Borromeo (Milan).

“Investing in youth is crucial for the growth of our country. The YouthSpark Programme has already helped over 700 thousand young men and women throughout Italy with an invaluable partner, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. At Microsoft, we intend to support youth so that they can enjoy all the potential of digital tools and create their professional future. The Discovering Talents Fair has allowed us to reward real talents and I am sure that the collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will continue to be deeply satisfying.” - Carlo Purassanta, CEO, Microsoft Italy.

The project, promoted by Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Microsoft, addresses 10 thousand young Italians aged 16-24 and aims to provide them with innovative tools and competences to access the working world through a process of total innovation: from experiential education to project management via self-enterprise.

Today, the winners were able to pitch their talent to companies at the Discovering Talents Fair. They are students from fives schools with excellent entrepreneurial ideas: from the Catania Istituto Marconi’s Smart Class that provides its own energy to the Talent App presented by the Liceo scientifico Marconi in Pesaro that unites young talents in a virtual and physical space. Then, there is The Voice of the Park from the Rome Istituto via Silvestri 301 that provides information to visitors via smartphone, the MILVA Association that provides work to former students at the Ipsia Pacinotti School in Pontedera (Pisa) and the intelligent system for road crossing created by students at the Istituto Fermi-Mattei in Isernia.

“Researchers estimate that 65 per cent of the children who are beginning primary school will work at a profession that has not been invented yet. This project will help you face complexity and acquire key skills for your future,” explains Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy, University of Edinburgh and Scientific Director, Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

The event also saw the participation of Paola Andreozzi, CSR Manager, Microsoft Italy; Roberta Cocco, National Plan Director Western Europe, Microsoft and Mirta Michilli, Director General, Fondazione Mondo Digitale. Company representatives included: Valerio di Bussolo, Corporate PR Manager, IKEA Italia Retail srl; Gemma Fiorentino, Marketing & Communication Lead Avanade Italy; Manuela Lavezzari, Marketing Manager Asus; Davide Minelli, Social Director, Techno impresa sociale srl; Alessandro De Grandi, CEO & Development Executive Garoo and Sara Cassina, PR Executive, Garoo.
