Available as an asynchronous distance learning course for healthcare professionals

Artificial intelligence is transforming European healthcare systems: from assisted diagnostics to clinical data management, from decision support to service organisation, right through to patient relations. For this transformation to deliver value, widespread skills, critical thinking and ethical awareness are required.

With this aim in mind, the course The Future of Care has been added to the training catalogue of the Mattone International Health Programme, as a new free resource in asynchronous distance learning format, accessible via the ProMIS Training platform.

The course, promoted by Fondazione Mondo Digitale as part of the collaboration between Johnson & Johnson and Microsoft Italia, has been designed to support today’s and tomorrow’s healthcare professionals in understanding artificial intelligence and its potential applications in healthcare settings.

The significance of the initiative is also confirmed by the recent report from the World Health Organisation Artificial intelligence is reshaping health systems: state of readiness across the European Union. The survey shows that AI is already present in European healthcare systems, particularly in assisted diagnostics and conversational platforms for patient care, but highlights a still significant gap in terms of training. Only a minority of European Union member states offer structured initial or continuing training courses on AI for healthcare professionals.

“The Future of Care” addresses this need, with the aim of reaching 50,000 healthcare professionals and contributing to the development of digital, operational and evaluative skills. The course helps participants understand how AI works, recognise its opportunities and limitations, interpret its results and reflect on the conditions necessary to integrate it responsibly into real-world workflows.

The asynchronous distance learning format allows participants to follow the content at their own pace, choosing when and how to study. The course offers video lessons and digital resources for professionals interested in exploring the ethical, inclusive and transformative potential of artificial intelligence in healthcare systems.

Participation is free of charge. To access the content, registration on the Formazione ProMIS portal is required.

The initiative forms part of the global programmes J&J CareCommunity and Microsoft Elevate, created to promote equitable access to care, digital skills and growth opportunities in an economy increasingly driven by artificial intelligence. For the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, the project reaffirms its commitment to building pathways of social innovation capable of putting technology at the service of people, organisations and the quality of care.

Artificial intelligence is also transforming the world of healthcare: from clinical data management to decision support, from service organisation to patient relations. For this transformation to deliver value, widespread skills, critical thinking and ethical awareness are required.

With this aim in mind, the course The Future of Care has been added to the training catalogue of the Mattone International Health Programme, as a new free resource in asynchronous distance learning mode, accessible via the ProMIS Training platform.
