Today, nearly 4 million students are back for their first day of school in nine regions and the Province of Trento. The new school year involves 7.4 million students in 368,656 classes. There are 277,840 disabled students.
As of today, there are 59,425 teachers with ongoing contracts (of which 12,840 have been appointed with the procedures of the “Sostegni bis” Bill). There are 10,729 ATA (administrative, technical and auxiliary) personnel. Moreover, there also are 87,209 positions assigned in derogation [see: Anticipazione dei dati relativi ad alunni e classi della scuola statale].
“Being all back at school together is fantastic, because schools are at the centre of our communities.” This is what Education Minister Patrizio Bianchi wrote in a letter sent to the school community on September 9th.
