The digital manufacturing lab at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym has become an official hub of the Fabricademy with courses on textiles, digital manufacturing and biology.
Digital manufacturing provides a wide range of opportunities in the fashion sector, including the production of products custom-tailored to consumer needs thanks to parametric design, intelligent textiles and the creation of more sustainable materials.
Fabricademy is a trans-disciplinary course focusing on the development of new technology in the textile sector from the fashion industry to the emerging wearables market.
The six-month programme is divided into two phases: three months of seminars and didactic activities and three months of individual research on a project.

Irene Caretti, a young maker at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym Fab Lab participated in the Fabricademy Programme at the Amsterdam TextileLab last year. It was an extraordinary opportunity to learn how digital manufacturing can be applied to textile processing and learn about the techniques, processes, tools and devices that impact on design, textile prototyping and the development of innovative items of clothing, as well as new natural materials produced through sustainable processes.
