Everyone on the Internet, from Rome to Romania

The protagonists of the “Everyone on the Internet” week are the schools participating in the digital literacy programme for over-sixties promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale together with the 50 elderly centres in Rome that participate in the Telemouse project implemented in collaboration with Telecom Italia.

The senior web explorers, student tutors and coordinating teachers invite all citizens back to their neighbourhood schools to learn computer basics, write a letter, send an e-mail, chat or speak on the phone via web and use the e-government services of the public authorities. Over-sixities in the city of Rome also attend mini computer courses at the Internet corners equipped in the elderly centres.

The inauguration of the “Everyone on the Internet” week will be held in Rome on Monday, May 3 at 10 am at the Istituto tecnico industriale “E. Fermi” (via Trionfale 8737) in videoconference with the City of Iasi in Romania, where the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has exported the Grandparents on the Internet model.

The first thirty Romanian grandparents will recount their experiences on the computer, e-government and social networking course they are following as part of Project Silver, Stimulating ICT Learning for Active EU Elders, part of an EU Programme on Life Long Learning.
