Project “Grandparents On-line. Everyone’s Young at the Post Office” is underway in nearly every Italian region, after the pilot experience run during the summer of 2015.
In some regions, such as Lombardy, more than one school is involved: in this case, two in Milan and one in Mantua.
Today, is the first day of lessons for citizens in Milan attending the course at IIS G.Marconi coordinated by Anna Sgubbi. Cecilia Stajano (FMD School Innovation Manager) will greet students on behalf of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, which manages the project throughout Italy.
In Campania, besides Naples, elder students will also be hosted by the IIS Buonarroti in Caserta. The tutors will be coordinated by Prof Giuseppe Vozza. Rosy D’Elia will welcome students on behalf of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
In all the schools, the lessons will be held by student-tutors – one for each elder - coordinated by a professor. The students will provide their elder counterparts with the skills necessary to gainfully use new technology. This digital literacy programmes underlines the commitment of Poste Italiane and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to fight social and technological exclusion of over-sixty-five citizens.
