Emotions at School

Social Hosting Hub, a project promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with Action Aid, Comunità di Sant'Egidio and Parole O_Stili, is one of the winners of the Google.org Impact Challenge on Security. The aim of the initiative is to create and coordinate the first phyrtual (physical and virtual) ecosystem made of connections, relations and communities. It provides a safe space with concrete tools, calibrated for the different age groups, providing information, indicating correct behaviour and communicational styles, illustrating how to learn in a transformational manner and develop new paradigms for sharing common values. The project aims to raise awareness and spread knowledge on the safe use of the Internet and other skills for digital citizenship.

Today, Wednesday, December 1st, we are organising a lab on emotions for children in primary school with FavolApp, the first educational tool developed by Project Social Hosting Hub. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices.

FavolApp is an app that helps children, through simple games, to recognise their emotions and those of their friends and families. By interpreting the feelings of characters like Cinderella, Snow White and the seven dwarves, little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio, children learn to identify fear, anger, sadness, happiness, disgust and surprise. In recognising similar or different moods, not only do they learn to express how they feel, but they also learn to understand how other may feel, both in presence and on-line.
