Elisa and Computers

"I went to a classic lyceum, but I then decided to study computer science because I liked to produce videos. However, I didn’t know anything about coding.” Elisa Chierchello tells her story over the phone to Coach Francesca Meini. "The classic lyceum taught me how to study and express myself, notwithstanding my shyness.”

Now, Elisa is a student at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Turin and a consultant for orientation. “To fall in love with computer science, you need to have a love of change, the ability to find new solutions by abandoning known routes and comfort zones.” For Elisa, computer science is not just about coding … “I love technology, even though it is always looked like a fierce enemy. I am here to demonstrate that nothing is impossible if you really want something. I’m proud of the future that I’m building,” she writes on her LinkedIn profile.

Elisa’s "career" as an educator started with Project Coding Girls in Turin and continued with Ambizione Italia for Schools. Over the past months, she has helped a class design an intelligent software application to help elders shop on-line [see news: Shopping? I’ll Help!].

Here’s her story …
