Education Manifesto

“There are many good reasons to remember, in the new multicultural and multimedia reality of Italy, that language education must be democratic. Democracy is a dynamic process, research, confrontation, aperture towards others, history and culture.

Thus, words are paramount: in the spirit of dialogue and equality, respect and acceptance of all identities, with an experimental and open, empathic and social attitude. If democracy is knowledge, worlds are the key to that knowledge.  And that is why a democratic language education is necessary.”

The Fondazione Mondo Digitale will participate in the work table amongst associations promoted by the Movement for Educational Cooperation to develop a manifesto on the urgency of democratic language education in schools. The first meeting of “Children – Migrants – Humanity” will be held on Monday, September 3 at CESV. Rosy D'Elia, who works on school innovation, will participate on behalf of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

The event is based on the work and ideas shared at the “Once School, Many Languages” Conference.
