For six years now, the student at the Istituto comprensivo Generale Gonzaga in Eboli have conquered the podium of the RomeCup thanks to the infinite innovative energy of their Headmaster Celestino Rocco and his enthusiastic staff. What will happen now that Prof. Celestino Rocco is retiring?
Eboli will not stop! Nor will Celestino, who after retiring as Headmaster, returns to the school as a knowledge volunteer to run a robotics lab as Professor Lego and starting the first Phyrtual Innovation Gym in southern Italy with the full support of the new Headmaster Roberta Talamo. The school is a member of the National Network of Phyrtual Innovation Gyms that currently has over 100 member schools.
The Phyrtual Innovation Gym in Eboli, which officially begins its activities today (October 26) at the Istituto “G. Gonzaga,” involves about 100 students from the five fifth year classes that will be introduced to robotics. The young students will create and programme robots with the Lego NXT kit and MicroMondi EX Robotica software.
All activities, that are currently planned for six months, will be held in the afternoon and besides the invaluable didactic and educational benefits, will also prepare the students for their participation in RomeCup 2016.
The school also plans to involve the city administration to receive further support and involve parents who are always available to participate in activities that are fundamental for their children’s education.
Together with Michele Baldi and Alfonso Molina, Celestino Rocco is the author of two Educational Robotics manuals “Introduction and Interactive Games” and “Competitions: Micromondi Ex Robotica and Lego NXT.” [also see Didactic Materials in the RESOURCES Area].
