An E-Nose to Sniff Illness

 

The e-nose is a tool capable of “smelling” different types of odours in different settings ranging from industry to illnesses and environmental monitoring.
 
Professor Arnaldo D’Amico, Head of the Department of Electronic Engineering - Sensors and Micro-systems Group at the Microsistemi Università Tor Vergata in Rome, defines it as one of the most interesting and less invasive robotic tools to study human pathologies.

The e-Nose will be showcased in the exhibition area of the fourth edition of the RomeCup, which will be held on March 18-20, 2010 at Itis Galileo Galilei in Rome and the Rome Campidoglio.
 
A vast exhibition area will host schools, agencies, universities and research centres, including the National Research Council (CNR), the Paediatric Bambin Gesù Hospital, the Campus Bio-Medico University in Rome, Technotown and the Department of IT and Automation at Università Roma Tre.
 

The official selections of Italian schools for the 2010 Robotics World Championships and the

Humanoid Robot Competition

for Universitiies from Meidterranean countries will be also be hosted at the same time.
