This is an initiative that allows all citizens - the young, the elderly, schools, families and the community in general – to participate in a democratic process.
From September 25 to October 8, 2013, all Italian schools will be able to join the “The Day of Participation – Schools open their doors to citizens” initiative promoted by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Department of Institutional Reforms, in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
Volunteer teachers and students will help over-sixties compile the on-line questionnaire and hold a Grandparents on the Internet mini-lesson. The lesson will begin with the creation of an on-line e-mail account that is necessary to participate in the consultation. A video tutorial will also be available to help elders understand how to compile the questionnaire.
Grandparents on the Internet is the digital literacy project for over-sixties promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in 18 Italian Regions and 8 European Countries. The intergenerational learning methodology allows over-sixties to learn about technology with the help of school students coordinated by teachers.
