Nearly 550 students from 22 schools in the Lazio Region were contacted with the help of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and invited to participate in the first phases of the Neuroscience Olympics.
Now, the 5 best students from each school are participating in the regional round that will be held tomorrow (March 19) to select three students at the national level.
The winners of the national competitions will participate in he international meets that are held each year at the Neuroscience Congress.
The Neuroscience Olympics are the local and national phases of the International Brain Bee (IBB), a competition for students aged 13-19, that tests knowledge of neuroscience, including: intelligence, memory, emotions, stress, ageing, sleep and nervous system diseases. The main objective of the competition promoted by the Italian Neuroscience Society is to promote biology and the study of the human brain, the most complex organ in our body, amongst students.
The 2016 edition of the Neuroscience Olympics has been organized by the University of Brescia Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine (see regulations).
