Two prizes were presented at the end of the Milan hackathon, the first all-female coding marathon organized by Programme Coding Girls: a Creative Coding Award and a Technical Coding Award.

The hackathon, which took place yesterday at IIS Falconi Righi in Corsico, involved 150 young women in high school [see news First Hackathon in Milan]. Today, the educational tour stops in Naples.

The Winning Teams

The Creative Coding Award went to Team "Look Beln". Beln is an acronym with the initials of the four team members:

  • Nicole Scrocco, 16, Marconi School in Milan
  • Beatrice Innaro, 15, Marconi School in Milan
  • Eleonora Mondani, 16, Gandini School in Lodi
  • Lucia Pezzetti, 16, Gandini School in Lodi

The project, entitled "Remember Who You Are," was a video to challenge the conformity of modern times, where people are judged solely on their appearance. The project was chosen for its original graphics and the educational historic content. Simple, but contemporary, programming.

The Technical Coding Award was assigned to Team "Girls Can Do It":

  • Francesca Del Pizzo, 16, Marconi School in Milan
  • Aurora Ruggeri, 15, Marconi School in Milan
  • Chiara Germani, 17, Bertarelli School in Milan
  • Georgia Chimici, 17, Bertarelli School in Milan

The project, entitled "Be the Change," addresses solidarity and importance of helping each other. The message is that “you receive what you give.” The project received a high score from American Coach Emily for the complexity of its programming.
