“Grandparents on the Internet in the Province of Palermo” the intergenerational learning model devised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to develop digital skills amongst over-sixties lands in the Municipality of Castelbuono, thanks to the support of the Fondazione con il Sud.
The general objective of the project is to promote active ageing and solidarity amongst generations through intergenerational learning courses with the joint participation of younger and older generations.

The first digital literacy course for over-sixties in Castelbuono also involves the local Auser and students at the IIS Failla Tedaldi School.
At the end of the course, all the participants – elders, tutors and teachers – will receive a participation certificate, which also counts as school credit for the tutors.
Schools, in fact, appreciate the educational value of the project and have inserted it into their programmes. Moreover, it allows teachers to fully exploit their didactic skills and specialise in senior education.
A “Web Network” manual has been developed for this course, on top of the existing didactic kit for senior digital literacy. The manual was written by Matteo Troia (21), one of the first hundred Italian digital champions.
In the video, Antonio Tumminello, Mayor of Castelbuono, describes the town and its environs, which have an extremely high average age. Thirty per cent of its citizens, in fact, are sixty or older.
