Twenty-six percent of the citizens in Como is older than sixty. In some towns, such as Como City, the percentage of elders exceeds 30%.
The “less young” will be taught to use PCs, e-mail and e-Gov services by young tutors from the schools of Como and Province, along with coordinating teachers, via the inter-generational learning method that has been successfully implemented by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in 13 Italian Regions and 9 European Countries.
The Como Grandparents on the Internet Project, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with the Province of Como, the Como Chamber of Commerce and the Como School Department will be presented in Como on April 4, 2012 (11:00 am) at Villa Gallia (Via Borgovico 154).
The event will be attended by students, elders, teachers and
- Claudio Merletti, School Department, Province of Como
- Mirta Michilli, Director General, Fondazione Mondo Digitale
- Luca Piergiovanni, local project representative
- Simona Saladini, Councillor for Social Services, Health and Equal Opportunities, Province of Como
- Fulvio Alvisi, Deputy President Chamber of Commerce, Como
The project calls for fifteen basic 30-hour courses and an advanced module on e-Gov and the National Service Charter. Attendants will receive a “digital certificate” from the Chamber of Commerce that will allow them to access the on-line services of the public administration and use electronic signatures for digital documents. The course is based on Fondazione Mondo Digitale’s 5-volume didactic kit, which includes a manual dedicated to services and regional e-Gov.
Moreover, course attendants will also be able to participate in the “Knowledge 3.0 Volunteers” International Competition to promote the contribution of young tutors to the digital literacy of elders, active ageing and digital volunteering amongst peers. The winners will be presented in May at the Rome Campidoglio.
