After Turin, Milan and Bologna, the Coding Girls Educational Tour is in Bologna. The programme, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the United States Embassy in Italy in collaboration with Microsoft Italy, aims to promote gender equality in science and technology. The sixth edition will be held on November 5-22 and will involve 10,000 young women in 14 Italian cities.
After the intensive training sessions held in city schools (LSS Oberdan and LSS Galilei), 90 students, guided by American super coach Emily Bradford, independent writer and software developer based in Silicon Valley, will participate in a hackathon at the University of Trieste.
Speakers include Francesca Del Duca, Large Events Coordinator for the Fondazione Mondo Digitale; Ilaria Garofalo, Director of the Department of Engineering and Architecture, University of Trieste; Denise Tecchio, American Corner Trieste; and Eric Medvet, university researcher on Information Systems at DIA, University of Trieste.
The Coding Girls Tour will touch down in 11 more cities: Bari, Cagliari, Catania, Naples, Palermo, Pisa, Pistoia, Reggio Calabria, Rome and Salerno.
