The National Coding Girls Tour ends today in Rome. The tour involved over 10,000 young women in 13 Italian cities (the Catania data, cancelled due to a weather alert, is still to be rescheduled). The programme promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the United States Embassy in Italy in collaboration with Microsoft Italy, aims to promote gender equality in the science and technology sectors.
Today’s hackathon, hosted by Sapienza University of Rome, will involve 115 young women from 15 schools, who will work for the entire day in 30 teams. The challenge is coordinated by American super coaches Emily Bradford, independent writer and software developer based in Silicon Valley, and Anthonette Peña, National Board Certified Teacher and STEM Teacher Lead. Eva D'Onofrio, Deputy President, Microsoft Services EMEA, a model for success, will also act as a mentor thanks to the Give Campaign.
