As part of the Italian Semester of Presidency of the European Union Council and for European Code Week, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the American Embassy in Italy, in collaboration with the US Girls Who Code Association, promoted Coding Girls Rome-USA, an eight-day long event (Oct. 12-19, 2014) fully dedicated to young girls and women in primary and secondary school. The project was also sponsored by Miur, Roma Capitale, Sapienza University Computer Science Department and Microsoft. e Microsoft.
The final hackathon was held over the weekend at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym with 90 young women.
In the video, Carmen, a student at the Liceo scientifico J. F. Kennedy School in Rome, explains the project developed during the coding marathon. Cap Monkey was awarded a honourable mention.
