Smart & Safe: over 160 employees have already signed up
Following its online launch, Smart & Safe is coming to Italian schools with its first in-person meetings dedicated to digital security. The project, promoted by Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with Microsoft Italia as part of Ital.IA Lab for School, brings industry experts into classrooms to help students understand the risks and opportunities of the digital world.
The first meeting is today, Tuesday 10 March, at the Niccolò Copernico scientific high school in Pavia, with Fabio Moroni, Tech Consultant in Cloud Platform & AI at Microsoft. His work involves designing cloud and artificial intelligence solutions on the Azure platform, supporting public and private organisations in their digital transformation processes.
Cybersecurity explained by those who do it every day
The meetings, lasting approximately 90 minutes, are designed as interactive sessions: no lectures, but concrete examples, real cases and practical activities. Students tackle issues that are part of their everyday online lives, such as:
- account protection
- creating secure passwords
- recognising phishing and online scams
- risks associated with deepfakes and artificial intelligence
- career opportunities in the world of cybersecurity
The aim is to make it clear that digital security is not just for experts: it is a life skill, made up of small everyday choices that everyone can learn to manage with greater awareness.
Microsoft volunteers in classrooms
Over 160 Microsoft employees have joined the initiative, volunteering to meet students in Italian schools. The programme is already growing rapidly:
- 37 schools involved
- 142 classes
- 2,375 students
- 12 regions, 18 provinces and 25 municipalities
There are 17 sessions already underway, in addition to 12 meetings planned during the RomeCup.
How to participate
Schools can still join the programme and organise a meeting until the end of May. Sessions can take place in person, in the school's auditorium, or online, and can be included in civic education lessons or training activities on the conscious use of technology. The project aims to involve around 5,000 students throughout Italy, offering practical tools for safe and responsible navigation in the digital world.
