The fourth edition of the International City of Rome Robotics Trophy will host not only the official selections for the Robotics World Championships and the Humanoid Robot Competition for Mediterranean Countries, but also an important exhibition area.

The exhibition area, which will open on March 18 at Itis Galileo Galilei in Rome (via Conte Verde 51), will also feature the Laboratory for Analysis of Movement and Robotics of the Ospedale pediatrico Bambino Gesù di Roma – IRCCS.

“The use of robotics in medicine has many advantages,” explains Enrico Castelli, Head Physician at the Hospital’s Pediatric Neuro-Rehabilitation Division. “Thanks to robotic patents, the reaction times of the nervous system are immediate and this allows children to understand and perceive their bodies.”

Thanks to precious partnerships such as that with the Department of Mechanics and Aeronautics of the Rome La Sapienza University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mechanical Engineering Department, in Boston, the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital has developed important robotic applications to train upper limbs and improve perception and balance. The Bambin Gesù is the first institution, worldwide, to publish a report on the impact of robotic rehabilitation for children.
