How many students will attend classes this year? How many classes will and how many students will there be?
About 8.6 milion students will attend public and private schools during the 2018-19 school year. In particular, 7,682,635 students will attend public schools for a total of 370,611 classes with the following breakdown: kindergarten (919,091 students), Primary School (2,498,5219), First-degree Secondary School (1,629,441), Second-degree Secondary School (2,635,582).
There will also be 245,723 disabled students in public schools (compared to last year’s 234,6589 with the following breakdown: kindergarten (21,434 students), Primary School (89,029), First-degree Secondary School (66,823), Second-degree Secondary School (68,437).
In Second-degree Secondary School, 1,294,890 students will attend university-preparatory schools (liceo), 827,990 will attend technical schools and 512,702 will attend professional schools.
There are 8290 schools for a total of over 40,000 facilities throughout Italy. Teaching staff numbers 822,723 units, including 141,412 special aid teachers.
The new school year will be inaugurated on Monday, September 17 with President Mattarella and Education Minister Bussetti.
