Today, children at the the Rivodutri Primary School - Istituto comprensivo A. D'Angeli di Cantalice will enjoy a unique experience. They will work with Artist Mariagrazia Pontorno, creator of the “Golden Roots” sculpture that will be inaugurated tomorrow at the Monumental Beech Tree of San Francesco.
This morning, the children will study roots from a scientific point of view with their teacher. Then, in the afternoon, they will explore the idea of roots as origins with the artist.
The children will write their ideas on the subject of “origins” on golden sheets. Then, the sheets will be shredded and threaded together with beads to produce a lay rosary of thoughts. Tomorrow, during the inauguration, the children will hang their rosaries on the beech tree, just as if they were pilgrims.
