Moreover, the company also conducts technological research. It returns to RomeCup 2014 with four robot prototypes:
• Solar tracker with optimal positioning;
• A robotic system that interfaces with Kinect for positioning;
• A micro-positioning system for the development of zinc oxide nanotubes;
• SAM – Simple Articular Measurement.
Elisa Amorelli (@elisa_fmd) conducted a phone interview with Simone Cirocchi from Sigma Consulting who emphasized the uniqueness of the device developed to certify patient articulation mobility.
SAM is a hardware-software device that can be adapted to any body part and evaluates and certifies articulation mobility. It is composed of a hardward device that can be hooked on to a patient’s limbs and a software system that monitors and interprets that data produced by the hardware system.
The data monitoring system includes an adjustable Velcro armband that houses the device (an Arduino chip) that identifies angular movement of the limbs and transmits relevant data to a software system connected via Bluetooth (PC, Android smartphone, etc.). The receiving device must be equipped with the necessary software to view and exchange data with the hardware device.
