Algorithm Ethics

Yesterday’s article on La Repubblica didn’t shock us, even though it was entitled: "Should I save my passengers or the pedestrians? The dilemma of driving robots.” It’s one of the issues on which blogger Marcello Pistilli reflects on his Blusa Blog on the Phyrtual Innovation Gym site.

After starting out on navigation safety, Marcello often addresses ethical issues, helping us to understand the “human” side of technology. Here is his post entitled: Algoritms for Monitoring and Driving (in Italian).

Marcello Pistilli has worked for over 40 years in IT and is a safety enthusiast. As a social agent, he participated in EU Project ACTing, providing all the knowledge acquired during his career in BLUSA (a blog for on-line safety of elders), an initiative that organizes seminars for over-60s and manages a blog on the site of the Phyrtual Innovation Gym.

The main objective of the blog is to provide reassurance to timid users and raise the awareness of fearless users on the use of the Internet. His most frequent words of advice are to employ a “healthy diffidence” as prudence is the most efficient tool for beginners on the web. His blog has become a reference point for the protagonists of Project “Grandparents On-line,” promoted with Poste Italiane.
