Pathway Companion, testing of the platform begins
Pathway Companion, the new artificial intelligence-based learning platform that supports teachers and carers in creating personalised learning paths for children and young people aged between 8 and 16 with special educational needs, is now operational.
Developed with the support of Google.org and in collaboration with Fondazione Don Gnocchi, ITLogiX and Roma Tre University, the platform was created as part of the Pathway Companion project, coordinated by Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS, to make teaching more accessible and inclusive thanks to generative AI and intelligent tutoring tools.
Arin, the chatbot that personalises content
At the heart of the platform is Arin, an intelligent assistant that interacts with the teacher to adapt any educational content to the specific needs of each student. Each teacher can create an anonymous profile for their pupils, generate personalised materials and reuse them over time, thus building a tailor-made learning path that can be updated based on the progress observed.
Training and testing with teachers
From the end of October to the beginning of December, a group of experimental teachers can test the platform by participating in a series of five online training sessions dedicated to:
- 27 October, 5-6.30 p.m., AI for teaching and everyday life
- 3 November, 5-6.30 p.m., Special educational needs: context and tools
- 12 November, 5-6.30 p.m., Pathway Companion: intelligent tutoring to support SEN
- 24 November, 5-6.30 p.m., testing and follow-up
- 1 December, 5-6.30 p.m., testing and follow-up
At the same time, from 5 to 6.30 p.m. and with the same theme, there will also be meetings dedicated to parents and carers, with a practical approach to educational technology. The dates are: 28 October, 4 November, 11 November, 25 November and 2 December.
A project for inclusion
Pathway Companion promotes an inclusive school model, in which artificial intelligence and educational relationships are integrated to enhance the autonomy, motivation and well-being of students with special needs.
