The end-of-term examinations were held at the Internet Corner installed by Telecom Italia at the Villaggio Olimpico elderly centre. The students at the Lucrezio Caro School, coordinated by Professor Vulcano Ortenzi, managed all the computer lessons and helped the grandparents to brilliantly earn their certificates.
The course was a great success: Giorgio celebrated his 87th birthday during the lessons that he defined as “an extremely positive experience” and his tutor as “an angel that should have a halo like St. Peter’s.”
Camilla was his digital angel. The tutor explains how the Telemousecourse allowed them to custom tailor the programme to the needs of the over-sixties. Grandpa Giorgio, for example, after a full immersion in Word, wrote an entire essay for his final exam!
There are many stories like this and there will be many more! In fact, the lessons continue at the elderly centre thanks to the Knowledge Volunteers. Amongst them, Tommaso, 14, the youngest tutor who loves to make the elders study and give them heaps of homework!
