Progetto Smile event in Milan
According to the ISTAT Adult Education Survey, in Italy, those who need the most training are those who undergo the least. Only 20% of the unemployed, participate in training activities as compared to 44.1% of employed individuals. The participation rate for adults aged 25-64 is 35.7%, nearly 11% less than the EU average, and learning activities are practically zero after age 35, when only 1.3% takes a formal certified course.
In order to promote independent work orientation and guarantee updated digital skills as required by the labour market, the Milan Polytechnic, Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS, IFOA, and Cisco Systems have developed SMILE, which stands for “SMart Innovative Learning for Employment.” SMILE is selected and supported by the Digital Republic Fund – Social Enterprise and is reserved for residents of Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Piedmont, Lombardy, and Tuscany.
The project is free, and targets unemployed individuals aged 44-50 who need flexible courses to improve their profile in view of employment in a digital sector.
