Cecilia Stajano continues her rounds to verify the state of advancement of the project for the digital literacy of senior citizens in Rome promoted in collaboration with Telecom Italia. Today, Ms. Stajano was in the XII Municipio of Rome at the Centro anziani sociale di Vitinia (via Montescudo 2). This district houses more than 174,000 residents, 24% of which are above the age of sixty.
Mr. Sergio, the manager of the elderly centre, points out that since the Internet Corner (three networked computers) has been active, the centre has become an organizational centre for activities, including day trips which are scheduled and studied on-line to provide participants with as much information as possible.
The next challenge is the network of elderly centres in the XII Municipio that will allow centres to share experiences and solutions. The 12th district, in fact, has 10 elderly centres with more than 7500 members, which represents the highest percentage of over-sixties (24.3%).
