From March 6 to 13, Antonio Micciulla, Professor at the “via Tedeschi” first degree secondary school will visit the Saharawi Refugee Camps together with delegates from the Bambini+Diritti social promotion association.
The aim of the trip is to analyse the Saharawi school system and devise a didactic plan for twinnings and cultural exchanges between the schools of rome and those in the Wilayas of Aaiun and Ausserd as well as to devise new digital activities for the schools.
Digital Bridge, a technological bridge with the Saharawi People is and e-inclusion project in support of the Saharawi financed by the Lazio Region, coordinated by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, and implemented locally by the Bambini+Diritti social promotion association.
The Roman schools participating in the project include: secondaria di primo grado statale “via Tedeschi”, l’istituto comprensivo “Fratelli Cervi”, il 159° Circolo didattico Magliana and the Liceo scientifico “Pio IX”.
Saharawi Wilayas (provinces) in the Algerian desert, near Tindouf, include the province of Ausserd, which is subdivided into six daires (municipalities) with over 40,000 individuals and the Wilaya of Aaiun with over 50,000 individuals in seven daires.
A small delegation, including Marcello Laneri, school administrator at the Istituto “Pio IX”, left on March 1 with another teacher and one student.
The first mission of the Italian delegation has a rich agenda including meetings with local personalities, visits to schools and refugee camps, trips to popular cultural sites and residence with local families in order to develop the new activities.
