Three students from the Leonardo da Vinci scientific lyceum in Jesi (Ancona) are afflicted by different health issues, but they face the same problem: how can they undergo the necessary treatments and still attend school regularly?
The school has only recently begun to collaborate with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, but cooperation has been very fruitful on the issue of finding innovative didactic solutions to provide long-term patient students and disabled students with the same opportunities as all the other students. Last March, when the Grandparents on the Internet project kicked off in Jesi, the school became acquainted with the many different activities promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, including the projects for long-term patient students and disabled students. The introductory video for Project E-Care provided Headmaster Bruna Aguzzi and IT Lab technician Giuliana Mazzarini with the right solution for some of their students. Following the signature of a memorandum of agreement on October 10th, the project has become operative.
Mohamed Gaber Haiba, a FMD representative, met with the families of the involved students, the school administrator, the teachers and the ITC and IT Lab managers and technicians for the school. Mohamed illustrated Project E-Care and explained the various functions of the Centra Platform, a portable videoconference system with dedicated didactic software and an interactive multimedia board. Mohamed explained how the programmes worked on both sides (teacher and student) of the platform on a large monitor and then simulated a lesson. Prior to installing the software, Mohamed also answered various questions from the teachers and parents.
Now, everything is ready for the students, at home, to be at school.
