European partnership to develop a methodology for introducing robotics into education with the goal of improving teaching and learning processes

The Robodidactics project (2006-2008) aims at the development of methods for applying robot science to the improvement of teaching techniques, especially in science and ICT subjects, and the building of lifeskills (creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, etc.).
 
The starting point is the recognition of two significant trends: the declining interest of the young in studying scientific subjects and technology, and the transition of the school system to the needs of education in the 21st century in progress at global level.
 
The project pursues a holistic innovation and teaching framework for the development, introduction, and implementation of robodidactics methodology through the application of principles such as the involvement of the users, institutional and technological alignment, and real-time evaluation and validation. The project implements avant-garde studies, local pilot activities, and international events with the involvement of schools, teachers, educational authorities and robotic expertise providers. The project’s final product is the methodology for robodidactics that integrates the results of the pilot activities, real-time evaluation, and the consultation activity of a team of international experts.

The following manuals that illustrate the fundamental concept of robodidactics, the courses, and the guidelines for teachers are all available. Real-time evaluation methodology that permits the expression of opinions on the manuals, the robotics environment, and the pilot activities in schools is also available.
