Women Developers

15,000 female students in 62 Italian cities with 33 academic partners: these are the numbers of the 7th edition of Coding Girls, the national programme aiming to increase the participation of young women on the job market. The project employs transformative experiences to build up a critical mass on gender equality, orient Generation Z towards science and technology, two quickly expanding sectors that require specialist skills, and contribute to the digital transformation of Italy thanks to women.

Coding Girls is promoted by a large alliance, coordinated by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, including students, professors, school administrators, families as well as companies, universities, and public and private organisations. The national programme, which is supported by the United States Diplomatic Mission to Italy, in collaboration with  Microsoft, has “adopted” schools and educational communities: Compagnia - San Paolo in Turin, ENI in Milan and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Naples. Moreover, the alliance continues to expand. New academic partners include the International School for Advanced Studies in Trieste.
