Monday, March 15, will mark the beginning of the first cycle of free on-line digital literacy courses developed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with the Network of Work Orientation Centres thanks to an operative agreement signed with the Department of Tourism, Professional Training and Labour – Professional Training and Labour Direction of the City of Rome.

The current health emergency has generated a dire economic crisis but has also driven an unprecedented process of economic digitalization, creating new professional opportunities.

To take advantage of this opportunity, the Rome Council for Economic Development, Tourism and Labour has joined Project Ambizione Italia for Youth, a free educational programme on digital skills, based on user profiles to provide custom-tailored training.

The digital literacy course is the first of three modules targeting individuals with little knowledge of digital tools and the Internet, especially in terms of employment opportunities [download the brochure (pdf)].

The basic digital literacy course covers the following topics:

  • Smartphones: differences between devices; use, installation and app management.
  • Internet Use: safe surfing; identifying fraud and other threats; avoiding fake news.
  • Communicating On-line: opening and managing an e-mail account.
  • Writing On-line: basic rules for writing on-line and communicating efficiently.
  • Aware Digital Citizens: digital payments; safeguarding your privacy and activating a SPID (official on-line digital identity).
  • Employment Services: accessing employment centres, such as: Anpal, Centro per l’Impiego, Iscrizioni and DID.
  • Job Agencies: which they are, how to register, how to reply to job offers and propose oneself.
  • Company Sites: “Work with Us” section, sending a CV, letter of presentation and completing forms
  • Aware Digital Presence: managing a social presence responsibly.

Please complete this on-line form to register.

An intermediate course will begin on April 16 for all those who already have a basic knowledge of digital tools. Advanced courses on the jobs of the future will also be held to introduce the new professions evolving thanks to technological innovation and artificial intelligence.
