A typo? Hurried? A misunderstanding? An article entitled "Technology and Women: a 12-year-long Gap," by Francesca Angelica Ereddia on Quotidianpost.it, contains a double error. And we are sorry that the mistakes are in an article dedicated to Project Coding Girls.
We imagine that the “survey comparing 153 countries based on their progress in gender equality” refers to the Global Gender Gap Report 2020 published by the World Economic Forum. In order to calculate the Global Gender Gap Index, the WEF analyses four dimensions and assigns a score from 0 (greatest gap) to 1 (equality) to each indicator.
We will need 99.5 years to bridge the gender divide worldwide, while it will take 257 years to bridge the gender gap in terms of global economic opportunities and participation: far more than 12 years!
