Stem in the City 2020

The FMD is once again participating in #STEMintheCity, the initiative promoted by the Milan Council in collaboration with important public and private organisations and the support of the United Nations, to promote STEM subjects and overcome cultural stereotypes keeping young women out of scientific and technological fields.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, STEMintheCity has been transformed into a completely digital, open and inclusive, project that will accompany us to the 2021 edition.

A rich platform of events, educational webinars, news, testimonials and articles will stimulate young men and women to improve their digital skills and undertake STEM studies and careers, overcoming gender stereotypes.

The FMD will share educational content from on-going projects with the educational community:

  • Video tutorials and webinars developed by OpenSPACE educators on making, coding, robotics, digital manufacturing and videomaking;
  • Video messages from ENI role models developed for Project COde&FraME to introduce young women to the emerging professions in STEM;
  • MOOC on issues related to discrimination, bullying and gender violence, developed by experts for Project GEM – Gender Equality Matters, funded by the EU REC Programme.

The first educational videos on gender equality for educators and teachers (second-degree secondary school and universities) are now on-line: 11 sessions dedicated to discrimination, bullying and gender violence.
