For the European Night of Researchers, The Rome Bio-Medical Campus University has organised an afternoon of events for high school students entitled “UCBM Open Night: Becoming a Researcher” in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale (FMD).
At 4:30 pm, there will be guided visits to the labs at the Advanced Research in Bio-Medicine and Bio-Engineering Centre. High school students will be able to visit the labs where the Departments of Engineering and Medicine & Surgery conduct their research and speak directly with researchers and professors. Moreover, prospective students will be able to inquire about university studies and learn more about how to become a researcher. At 7:00 pm, the UCBM will host a scientific aperitif and a roundtable with high school students and young scientists at the university.
The event will allow students to learn about university research and life directly from new graduates, doctorate students, and researchers. Moreover, the event will also serve as an opportunity to present the young women involved in Project Coding Girls. The project, which is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, aims to increase female talent in scientific disciplines. The meeting will highlight how, besides studying subjects like robotics, chemistry, biology and medicine, amongst others, there is an increasing number of women at university. Indeed, some historically “all male” faculties now have even more than 50% female students as, for example, Engineering [see news: Research, Feminine Plural].
