Celebrated since 2004 and promoted by Insafe, Safer Internet Day is a call to reflect on the benefits and risks related to life on the web and promote a conscientious use of Internet-related technology, especially for children and adolescents.
This is a fundamental issue that the Fondazione Mondo Digitale addresses with an innovative and strategic proposal that provides an answer to the need for adults to learn more about technology. It develops an arena for dialogue amongst generations, parents and children, and new channels for interaction between school and family.
Building on its decade-long experience with the Grandparents on the Internet Project and with the support of the Rome Città Educativa, the FMD presents Parents on the Internet, where the children become teachers, the parents become children and schooling comes to everyone’s home.
It’s a perfect opportunity for adults to learn about how children use new technology, an opportunity for students to gain more knowledge about the safety issues related to digital tools and a further opportunity for teachers to explore innovative, local didactic activities.
We interviewed some parents about this issue. Listen to this mother tell us about her relationship with her three children, technology and the delirium of power that parents often have!
