Registration is now underway – until March 4th - for the 5th International City of Rome Robotics Trophy.
 
From March 14 to 16 2011 national school selections will be held for the Robotics World Championship and the 2nd edition of the Robocup Mediterranean Open reserved to Mediterranean country universities. The 2011 edition includes training workshops for schoolteachers and the signature of an institutional Memorandum of Understanding on the use of Robotics in schools.
 
The 5th edition of the 5th International City of Rome Robotics Trophy, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, comes with a number of new features. The opening ceremony will be held on March 14th (9.30 am) at ITIS Galileo Galilei in Rome (via Conte Verde 51). The programme includes two days of competition, a demo area and workshops (14- 15 March) and the final phases and awards ceremony at the Protomoteca Hall of the Rome Campidoglio (16 March).
 
For two days, from 10 to 5, competitions amongst schools will animate the RomeCup 2011, the International City of Rome Robotics Trophy, in the following categories: soccer, dance and rescue. The national selections for Robocup Junior will also be held in the soccer and dance categories. Simultaneously, an international competition will be held amongst Mediterranean country universities: the 2nd edition of the Robocup Mediterranean Open.This competition will feature humanoid robots in the Standard Platform League category. In total, six prizes will be awarded, one for each competition category.
 
The demo area - open to students of all ages on March 14 and 15 - will include didactic laboratories on educational and service robotics in collaboration with several centres of excellence, including the ”Robotics in School” Network, the Piedmonts School Department, the Civic Museum of Rovereto and the Robotics School of Genoa as well as enterprises such as Comau spa, one of the seven world leaders in industrial robotics, and Clax Italia.
